Is the Pharmacist Tech School Accredited? Many pharmacy tech programs and trade schools have obtained a national or regional accreditation. Among the most respected accrediting organizations is the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Schools earning accreditation from the ASHP have been evaluated and certified to furnish a complete quality education. Online programs may additionally obtain accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which deals exclusively with online or distance learning. Be sure to confirm that the degree or certificate program together with the school you select are accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting agency. And a number of Old Harbor AK employers will only hire entry level employees that have earned a degree from an accredited school.

Does the Program Ready You for Certification? Certification is not mandated in all states, but many employers desire that the technicians they hire are certified. The pharmacist technician program needs to prep its students to pass the NHA or the PTCB examination. Does the College Sponsor Internship Programs? As we previously discussed, the NHA mandates a year of job experience for certification, which can be met through an internship program. Small classes permit more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the schools you are looking at what the typical student to teacher ratio is for their classrooms.
